Grundtvig workshop – “Culture and environment – new paths for the sustainable tourism”, Ref. no. GRU-12-GRAT-60-CT

About the workshop organizer: Mare Nostrum is an NGO that developed a lot of projects in the field of environment in the last 18 years, at local/ regional/ national and European level. During the years, more than 500 people took part at the courses/ trainings/ workshops we organized. Mare Nostrum is experienced also in public awareness campaigns, focused on environmental/ social issues, promoted at local and regional level. In order to evaluate the quality of our educational events, we apply the quality management standards that insure the institutional effectiveness and capacity. Also, our previous experience and the feedback from our participants represent very valuable information in organizing this workshop.
Target group(s): NGO volunteers, people with experience in projects work, people interested in alternative tourism and sustainable development. The participants will be selected according to the motivation for taking part in this workshop, their background in intercultural learning and English communication skills.
Objectives of the workshop:
-to raise the awareness of the participants towards the values of sustainable tourism, at local, regional and European level
-to increase the participants’ sense of ownership regarding their own culture and nature
-to create a space for good practice exchange (especially regarding about the promotion of local values towards a wider community/ group)
-to improve the participants’ skills regarding their abilities to interact and work in a multicultural environment/ group
-to develop the participants’ abilities in designing creative destination tours in their own region
-to promote the transversal learning
By promoting this topic, we intend to improve the knowledge of the local people and the workshop’s participants regarding the sustainable tourism in the Black Sea region. In order to achieve this objective, we plan to use innovative pedagogical approaches that will create a space for reflection, feedback and evaluation, for all the participants. The participants will be invited to be an active part of their learning process, to identify the consequences for the future, to focus on problem solving behaviours and to create a plan for their own personal development.

The travel costs will be reimbursed to the participants at the end of the workshop, on the base of the original travel documents. The accommodation, meals, local travel will be covered from the Grundtvig workshop budget. No fee will be applied.
